She had little doubt that some serious shit was going to go down. If it wasn't obvious from the way Lela finished the last fold in the paper star with particular shakiness, and how shortly after she did so a godforsaken meteor hit her house. Or rather, caused the house and her to disappear and reappear shortly after onto some place that was certainly not upper Washington. She ran to the window with particular haste; glancing out of it with a face of awe. All three of the cats pooled around her feet, and upon seeing the fresh new landscape outside, jumped out the window to explore. During normal circumstances she would have gone and brought them back into the house. But these were not normal circumstances, and Venn needed reassuring that she was not a fried and prime example of what happens when a meteor hits your house. She flipped her phone open and sent him the following message. UA: im okay.
Yep. Real reassuring. But with that done she could now go and explore THE LAND OF STRUCTURE AND LIGHT.

==> VC: be extremely relieved
WAIT WOAH WHERE DID LELA GO wait okay there she is WHEW. Venn realized he was holding his breath as his screen showed him an image of his friend's house again. He let it out and took a deep breath, laughing with pure relief. Her house was surrounded by a really, really weird locale. He was trying to figure out why his friend had been plopped here.
It was, in short, alarming. His brain whirred a thousand ways trying to come up with explanations. He hit on a few decent ones. Decided to keep them to himself. He saw his chat window light up and smiled. Hi friend was okay.
VC: that's good to hear, lela! VC: ! can see you aga!n VC: man that's a pretty neat place you've found yourself !n! VC: just uh VC: be careful out there! VC: there may be monsters and stuff VC: th!s be!ng a game and all VC: maybe some of those dev!ces could be of help?

Lela peered outside the window of her house, looking for the monsters that Venn had been talking about. There appeared to be none just a lot of fireflies. She would have preferred there be monsters, beating something up would do her good right now. That way she could pop a plaque on one of those suckers graves in honer of the sick idiots who made this game and decided to stick her here. She wondered if her mum was also in the house, if she was she was probably be less than happy about the relocation. If mother dearest was going to hunt her down she may as well follow the lead of her cats and ollies outie of this place. She capchaloged some items and snuck out off the balcony.
UA: oh good! UA: is it neat? UA: i havent had time to explore. UA: but ill be careful when i do. UA: no monsters by the way, just fireflies. UA: which device? UA: man i dont have a clue on to what to do next. i cant get a net connection to get to the guide i was peeking at before.

==>: DD: Knock on the door.
Time to say hello. The man in the black suitcase looks up to see a figure at the balcony. He wonders if his silhouette is as visible as hers- he was guessing the person was a she anyways, the person's figure reminded him of Dersite females. But with aliens, who knew? Skaia wasn't exactly straightforward after all. Hell, nobody had even been able to reach it until the first prototyping so they lived their lives in curiosity of what lay beyond those shining, beautiful clouds.
Prospit did, anyways. The Dersites just chilled with the marvelous tentacle monsters in outer space.
Diamonds Derringer, one of Derse's few dignitaries, straightened his tie and knocked on the door, wondering if his hat was positioned right. His hair was pulled back neatly, its length hidden under his head-warming accessory. And all people thought Dersites had no style- Derringer was a man of taste, fine at that. His three-piece suit was that of a shining black with a slight texture- that of damask, an oldschool taste. His cigarette case was neatly tucked into his chest pocket, although he rarely smoked. It was more for when he needed to catch the smaller details. His black gloves his the almost licorice carapace beneath and he wondered if he should start wearing a color other than black. Perhaps white next time... He could be like a phantom of some type, like a completely metaphorical and original problem sleuth adept in the ways of women and the world, with fancy footwork to back him up.
Ahem- besides that, he wanted to look good in general. These dreamers were basically royalty even if the Queen didn't like them. The Dignitary respected royalty. And he also wanted to meet these kids. This one was a Derse dreamer from what he had heard- supposedly that was a big deal. Meh, some of them were awake, some of them were asleep. They were pale-carapaced aliens. No bigs. Derringer found them interesting. He knew of their reasons to exist- to begin the war of Skaia- and now that it was in motion his time as a dignitary was almost over. It was time to get into gear.

Lela noticed the man just as she was preparing to slide down the pillars of the balcony. Deciding that it would be unpolite to do such a thing in front of him she stepped back and went the traditional way one would go to answer a door, through the house. Even if doing such a thing meant facing her mother who was conveniently somewhere else in the house. Reaching the door, she smoothed down her skirt and straightened her back, finally opening it with a smile. UA: hello sir. UA: may i help you on this fine evening?

==>: DD: Introduce yourself.
Be suave. Derringer nodded in a gentlemanly manner. He held his hand out to shake as he introduced himself.
DERRINGER: I am a diplomat from Derse, here to welcome you to the Medium. DERRINGER: Derringer DERRINGER: I hold no place in the war between Derse and Prospit- instead, I work in the meshes of peace on Skaia and in the Veil. DERRINGER: I am here now on my own accord at the moment to ask you some information on your fellow friends who may be coming to Skaia soon. DERRINGER: Might I step inside?
He awaited her permission, looking slightly bored. At one point a pyrefly landed on his shoulder and he gently brushed it away. The imps and ogres would undoubtedly be here soon and to be honest he wasn't exactly looking forward to stabbing them. That was more SS's thing than his own. What was important was the prototyping. Did they understand the direct consequences of what prototyping did? Or that they could prototype multiple times? Well, that's why DD was here... partially. Things were about to get clarified.
His only other concern was how well they had gotten here in the first place. They were getting outside information- he had a feeling.

She returned his handshake and stepped to the side to allow him into the house.
UA: of course derringer. UA: please take a seat. UA: might i get you anything before we start? UA: water perhaps?
She glanced around the sitting room, grateful that her mother had tidied it up before she had disappeared to who knows where. Wondering exactly how much information he wanted on her friends, and why he wanted it. She would have been happier to admit a stranger who would tell her about what she and her friends had gotten themselves into when they had brought the game.

==>: DD: Be Comfortable.
Just your style. He took his jacket off as he entered, leaving it on a coat hanger. His dark vest bore the Derse insignia over a fine and silky damask pattern. He made his way to take a seat while he spoke.
DERRINGER: As you may already know, the Incipisphere is a vast world that centers around the battle for Skaia. DERRINGER: Prospit wants to protect it while Derse wants to destroy it. DERRINGER: In time most will realize what Skaia is. DERRINGER: By most I mean that you and your party will. DERRINGER: It is a cycle of life and death.
He pulled the silver case from his pocket and ran his thumb over the engravings as he gave his speech.
DERRINGER: And your teammates should know that for every new entry... DERRINGER: Your enemies will get stronger. And we will gain the abilities that you prototype into the machines. DERRINGER: So please tell me about you and your friends. DERRINGER: Who seems to have the most knowledge of Skaia?

As her offer was pushed aside with a bombardment of names, she flipped open her phone to take notes. Stopping only to answer his last question. Which, lucky for her, required little effort on her part.
UA: alex sorele. UA: would be the one who has the most knowledge on such a subject. UA: and many others.

==>: DD: Careful now.
Tact, Derringer. Wait for it. Did he want to ask that question? The carapace paused. A few others- the Kids were fully briefed. Considering they all prototyped in quick succession only made the Dignitary nervous. He wanted to light a cigarette but refused to in such a grand household. Only the best cigars were to be smoked anywhere in this vicinity. He put a hand to his tie, something he often did when in deep thought, and wished dearly that he had some nice swing music to play.
DERRINGER: I know this may sound odd, Miss Lela... DERRINGER: But I feel as though there is an alien presence within this session. DERRINGER: It is not necessarily up to us to know because Skaia has already planned this presence to be there. DERRINGER: Still, do you have any information on what that might be? DERRINGER: It's actually a personal curiosity- there's nothing we can do but acknowledge it.
His silver cigarette case slid back into his pocket and he relaxed on the couch, playing with his cuff links. He grinned as Lela took notes.
DERRINGER: In return I can share you some information... DERRINGER: About the nature of Skaia, and how your Prototypings will affect the Queens. DERRINGER: A Ring of power. DERRINGER: And a mysterious forge built to destroy that one Ring.

She had heard about what he was saying before, about another force interfering with the game sessions. From who she couldn't remember, Slaier? Cali? Maybe even Alex or Venn? No, she hadn't talked to the first of the latter in awhile. And Venn would have just relayed what Alex had originally said. Than she remembered.
UA: an alien presence eh? UA: it has to be more of a personal interest if your going out of your way to trade information for information. UA: but yes, i know a bit about it. UA: my...friend...had a hunch about something messing with the sessions. UA: we both agreed that such a thing had to be stopped, and that we would combine forces to stop him.
She fiddled with the case of her phone, narrowing her eyes. UA: that's all i've got. UA: now you fill your side of the bargain.

==>: DD: Nod Professionally.
What do you know... She doesn't know anything. He ignored the comment on his personal findings. That part didn't matter. The Ring of Orbs Twelvefold. It existed in two points- on the most powerful characters in all of the Incipisphere. It was a part of their duty to find these rings.
DERRINGER: There are two rings. DERRINGER: Each Queen will have one. DERRINGER: They hold great power- the greatest power. DERRINGER: Above that of even the Kings. DERRINGER: And they can be destroyed at the Forge...
He grinned.
DERRINGER: Oh... DERRINGER: I forgot to mention that the Forge is dead. DERRINGER: Has been for a long time.
The rings were important, of course. They held all initial prototype data from every kid, every entrance. The only issue was... They were meant to be a challenge. Skaia couldn't always dictate things, prototypings being one of those. And the Kids prototypings were, put mildly, weak. At least a few of them. The Queen had been quite displeased with her sudden knowledge of everything hick, but she had dealt with it. Still... The frog robot? Her Royalty had quite simply flipped her shit. And that was why he was curious.
They had to know. Someone had to be helping them.
DERRINGER: Your party is seemingly knowledgeable of this place. DERRINGER: But as you continue towards Skaia many things will become unclear. DERRINGER: Is there anything in specific you are curious about? DERRINGER: I will do my best to provide you with the knowledge you seek.

She did more listening, taking notes on her phone and nodding along to the words he said. She found that she knew bits of it, had heard or read them before from the other kids. The bit about the forge however, was foreign to her.
UA: i have two questions. UA: one, how did something as powerful as the forge happen to get destroyed? UA: and two, do you happen to know the current prototype of the imps?
