Lela squinted at the red thing in his hands, automatically jumping to the conclusion that it was a Cruxite Dowel. She checked the page on the Cruxtruder, and compared the cylinder resting on it to that of the one in his hands. Yep, definitely a Dowel.
However she had no idea as what he was to do with it or if it was important. Carve it? Throw it to the lions? In the volcano? Perhaps she should consult one of those FAQ things. Temporarily minimizing the game window and quickly googleing "Sburb Game FAQ." Only one link popped up, and it was relatively short. Next, she was to deploy a card. Flipping back to the game window, she did so.
UA: a cruxite dowel. UA: its uhh you can make things with it. UA: the item i just deployed is a prepunched card. UA: according to this faq you are in need of it. UA: for what reason it does not say.

Ok, so the thing he was holding was a cruxite dowel. Yeah that was all well and good. And if he needed it to progress n the game, then that was all well and good as well. But what Alex was curious about was the sphere shaped acid trip floating up above him. Seriously, what the hell was that. That thing confused him. He had never really seen anything quite like it. And he had never heard of anything quite like it from Cory either.
Speaking of, where was that blasted girl?
ZA: Ok, that can work. ZA: Do you however, know what the flashing ball is?
He saw her deploy a card, and he walked over to grab the thing, taking a good look at it. That wasn't the only thing that he noticed however. He noticed a bit of flashing ovement on the cruxtruder, and figured that he could investigate. He took a few steps over, turning his head to see just what was flashing. The result he got, well, he probably wouldn't like too much. So what did he see on the cruxtruder?

Oh fucking hell.
ZA: FUCK MY LIFE. ZA: It's a time based game! ZA: UGH. ZA: What do we do next?

So she needed to scour the FAQ to find out what the flashy, alchimized symbol donned, ball thing was. Of course, it was easier said than done. Due mostly to the fact that the said FAQ had many gaps in it, and had information scattered about rather haphazardly. But after awhile, she did indeed figure out what the blob was: a Kernalsprite. Flipping open her phone she answered Alex's question.
UA: its a kernalsprite. UA: i am to prototype it twice. however i have no idea as to how to do that. UA: pardon me if it explodes.
Lela flipped back to the game combining the sprite with a object in Alex's room, than going through the prototype procedures. Once she was done she turned back to the pesterlog. UA: there. thats done. UA: i thought the game was to be untimed.

Alex nodded as he got his explanation. So this thing was like a familiar of sorts that needed to be prototyped? He wondered what would go with that thing. However, he wouldn't have a chance to decide that for himself, as he looked over to see Lela messing with his greatest experiment; the METAL GEAR FROG. A somewhat human sized mechanical frog with a rail-gun attached to its right shoulder and well, Alex also gave it laser eyes. He wanted to give it AI, but had yet to get that good. The idea for it was simple; Metal Gear REX was land based and had a rail-gun, Metal Gear RAY was water based and had a laser. So the Metal Gear that Alex was designing was meant to be an amphibious combo of both.
Nevertheless.
ZA: WAIT WAIT WAIT. ZA: NO! NOT THAT ONE!
Too late, the Metal Gear collided with the kernelsprite and that was that. All that hard work was gone. However, as a result, he got a floating frog face with usable laser eyes and a mounted rail-gun. So at least he had a useful familiar. Didn't mean he was happy though.
ZA: AAAAAAUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH. ZA: I SPENT THE LAST TEN MONTHS WORKING ON THAT. ZA: FUCK. ZA: FUCKING FUCK.
Yeah, it was probably a good idea to move on.

She read the vast amount of pesters with mild amusement. Who knew a guy could freak out so much over some silly frog? She supposed it would have been better to ask him if she had permission to use it first, but hey, whats done is done. Letting him continue his rampage, she flipped to the FAQ window and found little more on the subject of the game. Assuming it was so because of the newness of Sburb. Okay then. So she would be left to her own wits while the Cruxtruder counted down. No pressure of course, none at all.
UA: oh my. UA: i am really quite sorry. UA: but it is cute and matches your aspect. that and i didnt know it was such an important item to you.

Alex felt like roaring at something. Seriously, that thing hadn't even been finished yet. Ugh, all that work down the drain. He looked at the kernelsprite. And as if on divine cue, he shook his fist at the thing, declaring it blasphemy before regaining his senses. And then looking back at his phone, he started to notice something that could be construed as just a little annoying.
There

A
Lot
Of
People
Harassing
Him
Now.
Great. Now he was going to have to go into ridiculous overtime. He started his flashstepping up again. Only not really running around. Rather, he was using it to keep up with all his conversations. At least to the best of his abilities, while having to continue on with their little predicament. He flipped back to Lela really quick to see what else they could do at this point.
Though he couldn't help but wonder how she knew about his aspect. Had she awoken on Derse? He hadn't really checked on her, to be honest. He had been for the most part, well... nevermind. He wouldn't probe though, he didn't want to reveal things that she didn't need to know just yet. Then again, there was the possibility that the trolls could have just told her.
ZA: Ok, so what do I do with the card?
Meanwhile, he would open up a memo.

She decided that the only thing she could do was deploy the last two available items in the catalog, and hope one of them matched the card she had previously deployed. Unfortunately she had little room left to fit in the two machines, causing her to enlarge Alex's room. Once that was done, she placed both items next to the Cruxtruder, where they quickly snapped together to form a sort of item combo. Well that worked. Now all she had to do was hope Alex would find the right one to put the card in.
UA: i deployed the last two available items. UA: one of them should match the card.

Alex took a good look at the two new items in his room. The Totem Lathe in particular. He could see a slot for what was obviously meant for the card he had been granted. There was also a spot that could hold what he assumed was the cruxite dowel. The rest of it was rather simple, he placed the dowel in its proper spot on the Totem Lathe, and placed the punched card inside. The Lathe did the rest of the work modifying the dowel as it saw fit. It slimmed down a bit, taking a bit of an hourglass shape. Alex didn't really see the point of it.
All the while, as he started to knock off conversations one by one, the phone stayed right by his body, seeming to move with him, and even float at some points. The truth of the matter was that Alex was simply keeping it in the air via flashstep. There was no real mystery behind it. Alex was just someone who could multitask.
He looked at the third item, the Alchemiter. He took the dowel from the lathe and placed it on the small platform that rested by the alchemiter. A needle came out, and at once a laser went over the dowel. This caused a reaction from the alchemiter, as with a quick flash, an item appeared in the middle. A crown. A red crown rested in the middle of the circle. Curious, Alex moved over to retrieve it, wondering just what the point of it was. He never really expected to be doing anything quite like this before.
Yes, the sign of taking one's burdens onto oneself. However, he had lost track of time. All of this plus the badgering from the conversations had led him to lose track. Briefly turning his head to the window, he saw quite a lot of red from outside. This perplexed Alex, what could possibly be causing that. He took a quick look at the clock on the Cruxtruder.
0:24
0:23
0:22
Oh fuck.
Taking advantage of his flash step once again, Alex moved outside with speed and grace, moving outside on the second floor. He took a good look up at the sky, wondering what in God's name could be causing such a light. Could it have been the volcano? No, he was sure he would have heard that sucker erupting. He wasn't sure if it was a volcano or a supervolcano, and he damn well did not want to find out. Those didn't matter when you lived next to a goddamn volcano. So Alex looked up, and noticed a peculiar object in the sky.
Oh. Dear. God.
Panic surged through his body. Up in the sky, he could see it; a meteor. Yes, the trolls had warned him of meteors, but he didn't think one would be headed for him so soon. He wasn't really sure what to do, he had zero defense against a meteor. In a panic, he turned towards his phone, which had stayed by him this entire time. His reaction was one of tact, dignity, and grace
ZA: OH MY FUCK. ZA: WHAT. ZA: NO. ZA: METEOR. ZA: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Attempting to control your shit...processing...mission failed.
Shit has been flipped.
She scrambles to the window in a frenzy of flying plushies and cats scrambling to get out of her path. She finds it mildly ironic that her black cat is the last to cross her path, but the thought is quickly lost as she reaches the window.
Gogdamn.
Through the window you spy a multitude of small meteoroids. Hinting at the possibility of something worse to come. She hopes they dont hit anything important before scrambling back to her phone. UA: ahh um oh shit. UA: i dont think this game is what we originally thought it was. UA: though you understand this now because you are assumeably dead. UA: im not quite sure how to swallow that fact.
