They happened to mistake the crashing of Loke's meteor for a small earthquake, and when they found him, they named him after the trickster god the temple was for. But they were very busy and very important people, so they left their adopted son in the care of the husband's very able father, an intelligent man who had earned a fortune trading and exchanging dinosaur skeletons on the black market. His son still thought that was BS, but the number of complete skeletons that stood in cases in the library certainly stood as evidence. Left in his grandfather's care, Loke was taught a great many things, especially about dinosaurs and some of the creatures people has mistaken them for. PAPPIE also told Loke of the people he had met on his adventures, including many famous writers. If PAPPIE had met them, then he owned all of their books, because with as much money as he had, there was no reason to not reward the writer for meeting him. Over time though, Loke began to become more and more independent in his studies, and he burned through much of his grandfather's collection in a few short years, but this was all known knowledge and he yearned for more and especially less-known information. Thanks to his father, Loke was able to set up a satellite connection and gain access to the internet, something his grandfather had never quite taken to. He viewed it as unnecessary, but Loke enjoyed it. Using the internet for his own purposes, Loke quickly made a name for himself in the academic world under the alias ''Dr. James Whoward.'' They ate up his writings on subjects of quantum mechanics and how it applied to dinosaur extinction rates. They invited him to conferences, but he politely turned them down, saying his expeditions in the Gobi Desert, Arctic, or Amazon were far too important to leave for a conference where they'd get to hear him read his books and just reiterate the data he's already given. Besides, as a teenager, Loke had since moved on to things more his age-group. ''Dr. James Whoward'' was a thing of the past; the internet writer ''J.J. Lovecraft'' was born. Under this new pseudonym, Loke wrote fanfiction after fanfiction and became an internet sensation nearly overnight. His fans asked him to come to conventions, but he refused, this time less politely, mainly because he really didn't feel like coming up with an excuse this time. But it was only when he dropped his pseudonyms and started making friends that he enjoyed simple anonymity online. PAPPIE ensures he doesn't spend too much time online, but Loke makes time when possible. Donning the Chumhandle ''expositingScholastic,'' Loke finally enjoys a much more comftable life online. But everyone knows how that would change with the discovery of Sburb. And thus his story truly begins... [style=font-size:14px; letter-spacing: 3px; border-bottom: dotted 1px white;]home[/style] ❧ Living out in the Florida Keys with his grandfather, PAPPIE, Loke lives a life of relative calm and serenity. And boredom. Sneakily, and with his father's help, he set up an internet connection via satellite. It was a miracle at all that PAPPIE had electricity at all. So the house is pretty nice: 3 stories, big glass windows that look out upon the ocean, marble flooring, and (most importantly) an extensive library. The library is Loke's unofficially official room where he studies everything from mythology to god-awful science fiction. [style=font-size:14px; letter-spacing: 3px; border-bottom: dotted 1px white;]typing style[/style] ❧ ES: Quirks? ES: Grammar and punctuation deviations? ES: What sort of nonsense is this? ES: Would you expect me to be so lazy as to not type in proper English? ES: Even if I word all my statements as questions? ES: Wouldn't you say that that is poppycock? ES: Now, won't you kindly remove yourself from my presence? [style=font-size:14px; letter-spacing: 3px; border-bottom: dotted 1px white;]symbol[/style] ❧ Loke's symbol is reather obvious when his interests are known. It is a simple book with a locking clasp on it. The book it black and the lock is gold. The book's front is intricately laid with Celtic knotting winding its way around the front. [style=font-size:14px; letter-spacing: 3px; border-bottom: dotted 1px white;]fetch modus[/style] ❧ Anigram Modus: Loke has to make up a word consisting of all the same letters as the item he is storing. It will refuse to yield the item if the modus feels that what is entered is too similar to the actual name. [style=font-size:14px; letter-spacing: 3px; border-bottom: dotted 1px white;]powers & skills[/style] ❧ Loke is rather good with a pen, meaning he is a good writer and his hand-eye coordination is excellent. [style=font-size:14px; letter-spacing: 3px; border-bottom: dotted 1px white;]medium[/style] ❧ At one time, long in the past of the Land of Chambers and Libraries, Nyx guided the humble consorts of the world to read in the chambers and borrow books from the libraries. Only now has she decided that the lights that make it possible to read on the planet must be put out and the libraries locked. She has even begun to hoard the books of the libraries, making countless consorts move books to her central library where she resides, reading and gathering knowledge. [style=font-size:14px; letter-spacing: 3px; border-bottom: dotted 1px white;]sidequest[/style] ❧ One of the things she has learned from the books she has taken is how to snare the consorts, the black dragons, and twist them to her will. Thusly, in order to cripple her power, Loke must steal the book with the spell and undo its magyk. On the way he'll have to learn from other magyk books. Once the book is stolen, Loke can then destroy it (or keep it for himself, mwahahaha...). | [atrb=width,150][atrb=valign,top][atrb=bgcolor,B9FC6F][atrb=style,color:252525; padding: 8px;][style=font-size:14px; letter-spacing: 3px; border-bottom: dotted 1px #252525;]positive[/style] ❧ Accepting of others ❧ Calm ❧ Intelligent ❧ Creative ❧ Obligatorily polite to women [style=font-size:14px; letter-spacing: 3px; border-bottom: dotted 1px #252525;]negative[/style] ❧ Theatrically dramatic (when typing) ❧ Annoyingly questioning ❧ Easily distracted ❧ Disorganized ❧ Bad with spoken words [style=font-size:14px; letter-spacing: 3px; border-bottom: dotted 1px #252525;]interests[/style] ❧ Lovecraft and Loveraftian horrors [/style]❧ Writing ❧ Quantum mechanics ❧ Pseudosciences ❧ Finding the question to life, the universe, and everything. |
