Yes, there are instructions. Homestuck sburb/sgrub games need a lot of planning, so hey, let's all be on the same page, okay?

Names should follow Homestuck convention. Troll names have six letters for their first and last name. Kid give names are four letters. Kid surnames are two syllables and 6-7 letters. Ancestor names/titles have eight letters.

Players of the game should be just starting or in the middle of puberty. Ages 13-16 or 6-7 sweeps works best. Everyone else can be any age.

We want an even split for Prospitan and Dersite dreamers. It's first come first serve, and we'll update this if we're full up on one of the planets.

The players are split into different teams. For now, the kids' teams are simply ONE, and TWO (in groups of six). Troll teams are RED and BLUE (in groups of six).

Multiple teams means more people can enter the game from the get-go, so we may ask that you switch teams so you can be a client/server player asap rather than wait around. As you know, the team doesn't actually make a difference in the end.

On characters in general, please look at other apps and talk to prospective players! You're welcome to start plotting your character before your app is accepted or even completed.

We want variety in personalities and quirks. A session full of sweet, lovely characters is boring. A session full of jerks and assholes (while entertaining at first) will get old and ultimately become a trainwreck. Let's get a good mix!

Gimmick characters that revolve around one thing (ie, a human whose only schtick is making D&D jokes, or a troll whose entire concept is 'has horns shaped like dongs') are best kept to a minimum. It's harder for these characters to gain depth and stay interesting for the long-term, and we don't want anyone losing interest in their characters.

[style=padding: 0 10; font-size: 10px;]"Perhaps we should simplify this with a canon comparison. A session full of Eridans or Vriskas, full of emotionally volatile murderers, would end in nothing but tears and drama with little to no comic relief.

A session full of Nepeta-like characters, the cutesy comic relief girl who literally had a world named LOLCAT, would be adorable: but she’s not suited to angsty drama, and if you wanted to give your session drama and emotional depth it’d be very hard when all the characters were wearing tea cosies on their heads and mewling in their last post.

A session full of Tavros or sopored Gamzees (sans the rage state) would simply fall on it’s own face due to the incompetence of the participants. They’d all die! You need a good mix of all the character types, although perhaps not carbon copies of the canon trolls."
